You Are Welcome At Light of Christ!
It is our goal to provide a warm place of encouragement and community, and you are more than welcome to come join in that experience. No matter what your personal reasons are for wanting to be involved in the Church, we are confident you will find a great group of people here to support you in any way possible. We want to help you grow in your relationship with Christ, and you will have the opportunity to help others do the same.
“The More You Get to Know the People at Light of Christ, the greater appreciation you get of the beauty of God’s grace and love that shows in our life, fellowship, worship and service together. Christianity is really about celebrating the relationship we have with God through Jesus Christ, and the relationship with each other that brings joy, meaning, purpose and a sense of belonging to our life.” – Pastor Ted
Fun and Fellowship
We have many small groups that meet on a continuous basis, while others get together just for special projects.
Our members have recently formed small groups called Agape groups that meet in homes to eat, talk, laugh, and repeat often. We would love to meet you at the next Agape “meeting” – contact us today because we'll have more fun if you're there too!
At Light of Christ we love to gather for a feast. We support our youth group with enjoyable, free-will offering, fundraising dinners. You can count on plenty of laughs to be served up along with the good food.
Our Community Garden hosts several fundraising events every year, including a Pumpkin Patch, Fun-Run-Walk, and many Light of Christ members look forward to cleaning out their closets to support the annual Community Garden Yard Sale.
You can support these activities by clicking the Giving tab and donating through PayPal. It doesn’t get any easier than that!
Our annual Thanksgiving-Sunday dinner and Easter morning breakfast are always fantastic meals. The Weaver family somehow wows us every year with their ability to serve our big (and growing) crowd with delicious, hot food.
We also come together as a Church to help individuals and families in times of crisis as needed throughout the year. It's difficult enough to face a devastating illness, let alone having to deal with the associated expenses. Our solution is to rally together and raise money to help cover some of the bills incurred by those affected. That’s what a family is meant to do - love and support each other when needed.
Light of Christ began as a mission congregation in 1986. In 1987 we became incorporated and recognized as a congregation. We met in the library at Twin Lakes Elementary for a little over one year. When our group grew we moved to Decatur High School, and worshiped there for three and a half years before dedicating our new building in the spring of 1992.
We’ve continued to grow, yet we still have a small town, warm-welcome feel. So please join us one Sunday because you’re invited to come grow with us!
